Sereniah Breland The Houston Canoe Club has a presence on Facebook with our own group page. You can visit that page by clicking here. The page was created in 2010 by Sereniah Breland, when Facebook was just beginning to become very popular, and before she moved to Pflugerville. As a current administrator of that web site, along with Natalie Wiest and Christy Long, I've sensed a higher than usual number of people requesting to join the group. So I dug into that to see just what the growth has been. Here's the chart: As you can see, my instinct was correct: membership has grown by 42% this year! I'm not sure how to explain this sudden growth explosion. It could be the zombie plague that is keeping everyone indoors on their computers. Or it could just be growth feeding itself by word of mouth. Whatever the reason, I'm happy about it. Now, if we could just convert some of these fellow paddling and outdoor enthusiasts into dues-paying members... If you would prefer to use the Facebook media for discussions about canoeing and kayaking, it's available to you. You do not have to be a member of the Houston Canoe Club to be accepted as a member of the HCC Facebook group. It's another way to stay informed about what's happening in our local paddlesport recreation!
